The climate and nature emergency is no longer a future threat; we are increasingly witnessing the devastating impact of climate change and extreme weather events on Welsh communities, businesses and households. The past decade has been the warmest on record, impacting many sectors of Welsh society and Natural Resources Wales states the number of Welsh properties at risk of flooding will rise by 34% to 389,731 over the next century.
Addressing these challenges presents a significant strategic and operational challenge for policy makers at all levels as well as the private and third sector, with the risk that costs may fall disproportionately on communities already facing considerable difficulties.
We support the Welsh Government, local government and wider public services in Wales by providing independent and authoritative evidence and expertise that supports their efforts to reduce carbon emissions across all sectors and build a greener economy through enhancing education, skills and employment in a way that benefits all of Welsh society.
