Emma Preece

Emma joined the Wales Centre for Public Policy in September 2026. Prior to joining the WCPP Emma worked as a researcher with People and Work, an independent Welsh social research charity. Within this work, Emma worked across multiple research and evaluation projects for both public and third sector organisations throughout Wales. Her role focused on undertaking research to address inequalities in education, health, and employment.  She was also responsible for the evaluations of People and Work’s action-based research projects based in the Rhondda.

Emma holds a BSc in Human Geography and an MSc in Social and Public Policy from Cardiff University.  Her academic background and experience in research and evaluation for public sector organisations has further developed her interest to use evidence to inform policy and practice in Wales. Being from Cardiff, Emma is passionate about the continued use of research within policy to enable a Wales where everyone can thrive.
