Dr Alexander Jones

Dr. Alexander Jones is a Research Assistant at the Wales Centre for Public Policy (WCPP), having joined the team in 2025.

Alex has worked on a variety of projects for WCPP, particularly within the Centre’s Inequalities and Environment and Net-Zero priority areas. This includes ongoing research to support public services to understand and address poverty-related stigma, and research into reducing economic inactivity through local, place-based, multi-agency approaches.

Prior to joining the centre, Alex has worked as both a research assistant and a research associate for Cardiff University across multiple research projects including the ‘Horizon 2020: FOODTRAILS’ project, and on ‘Sustainable Food Systems: Planet Card Initiative’.

Alex holds a MSc in Social Science Research Methods, and a PhD in Business from Cardiff University. His research interests include food poverty, alternative food provision, social enterprise and supply chain resilience, specialising in Network Theory. Alex is an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), with experience teaching across a wide range of Business Management modules.
