Rosie Challender joined the Wales Centre for Public Policy in September 2026 for her professional placement year as part of her Bsc Human Geography degree at Cardiff University.

During her studies, she has developed an interest in social and economic issues, particularly how policy can be used to address inequalities and improve outcomes for people and communities. Her 'Social Geography: Spaces of Inequality and Welfare' module has further developed this interest, while 'Developing Research Methods' has helped her develop skills in research and data analysis.

Throughout her placement, Rosie hopes to deepen her understanding of the policy context in Wales and gain practical experience in policy research and the use of evidence to inform decision making.
