Ahead of May's Senedd election, the Wales Centre for Public Policy (WCPP), in partnership with the Institute of Welsh Affairs (IWA), is delivering a thought-provoking webinar series to explore evidence and expertise around some of the most critical policy challenges awaiting the next Welsh Government.
Registration for the first webinar, Building prosperous local economies through a just transition is now live.
How can Wales deliver local economic growth and development through a just transition that benefits future generations?
This webinar, building on WCPP’s environment and net zero work, published research and expert insight, will look at how Wales can deliver local economic growth and development through a just transition, supporting both current and future generations.
Exploring the opportunities created by the transition to net zero, the 60-minute webinar will examine how our efforts to tackle climate change can also strengthen local economies across Wales.
It will ask:
- How can the net zero transition maximise opportunities for localities by building on the existing strengths of local economies?
- What skills are needed to support businesses and communities to ensure that Wales makes the most of the opportunities afforded by the transition?
Chaired by WCPP Director, Professor Dan Bristow, the webinar will bring together experts for a discussion on how the next Welsh Government can enable a fair and just transition, supporting prosperous local economies and delivering long-term benefits for future generations.
Speakers:
Dr Helen Tilley, WCPP Director of Policy and Practice (Welsh Government)
Ben Burggraaf, CEO, Net Zero Industry Wales
Henry Richards, Senior Futures Lead, British Academy
