Dr Katie Crompton is a Research Assistant for the ESRC Policy Fellowship, seconded to the Wales Centre for Public Policy (WCPP) from Bournemouth University, from March 2024 to March 2025.

Her role involves working alongside Dr Rounaq Nayak, to enhance the understanding, capabilities, and skills of evidence generators, policy researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in involving people with lived experience in their work. The Fellowship is an 18-month collaboration between WCPP, and three other What Works Centres – the Centre for Ageing Better, Youth Futures Foundation and the Centre for Homelessness Impact.

Katie recently completed her PhD in Psychology at the University in Portsmouth and has a background in teaching children. She is also a qualified children’s mindfulness teacher and is passionate about continuing research into the effects of mindfulness on children in her future research career. Katie specialises in mixed methods research, and has experience of conducting randomised-control trials, focus groups and ethnographies in schools.
